Photo Essay: St. Peter’s Basilica, Vatican City

If you’re lucky enough to visit Rome, make time to visit St. Peter’s Basilica.  Don’t worry — even if you’re not Catholic (or religious at all, for that matter), it is most definitely worth the time. We’re not, and we still marvel over the architecture and art.

Pay attention to planning your stop, though, as crowds can be outrageous. There’s magic in St. Peter’s, even for those of us with little to no faith :). I’ve provided just a sample of photos from our most recent visit there, but in the coming weeks, I’ll share with you the purely accidental story of how Barry and I stumbled into having front row seats to witness history: the election of Pope Benedict XVI.
